Scam alert: Fake calls from Anthem

Mar 21, 2019

The Risk Management Unit at the NH Department of Administrative Services has shared this scam alert with NHRS:

“We’ve recently learned that some retirees have received a “robo call”, or computerized phone call, with a pre-recorded message identifying the call as coming from Anthem BC/BS. The recording goes on to say that retirees might be eligible to stop paying for their Medicare Part B premiums and provides instructions to continue the call.”

“If you receive one of these calls, you should be aware that this is NOT an authorized phone call from Anthem BC/BS and it’s recommended that you discontinue the call immediately. While Anthem BC/BS is aware that this robo-call is occurring, they are unfortunately unable to stop it and apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.”

There is no need to contact NHRS if you receive this robo-call. While there is nothing the retirement system can do about it, we feel it is important to share this alert with our retired members.
