Leah McKenna Appointed to NHRS Board of Trustees

CONCORD, NH – Leah McKenna was recently appointed to the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS, the retirement system) Board of Trustees as the employee member.

McKenna has worked at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) for 25 years, where she currently works as the Administrator of the Solid Waste Management Bureau.

She is a member of the State Employees’ Association Collective Bargaining Team and has served as the team’s chair since 2019. She has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Plymouth State University and an associate of applied business degree in Accounting.

NHRS is administered by a 13-member Board of Trustees that includes one employee member, one teacher member, one firefighter member, one police officer member, four employer representatives (one each representing the state, counties, schools, and municipalities), four public members, and the State Treasurer. All trustees – with the exception of the State Treasurer, who serves ex officio – are nominated by the Governor for three-year terms and must be confirmed by a vote of the Executive Council.
