NHRS has previously sent out communications to employers focused on some of the process changes/enhancements that employers will experience with the new Data Reporting System (DRS), including information about the new File Layout and DRS Portal changes. We also provided other documents comparing the current format (V2) of the transmittal file with the new XML file format (V3), which will be required when NHRS launches the upgraded DRS in late 2023.
NHRS continues to work with the larger payroll vendors which include Tyler Technologies (Infinite Visions, Munis, Incode10), BMSI, Harris (Munismart, Open Windows), and Powerschool. If your payroll provider is one listed, you may reach out to your vendor for support. If your payroll vendor is not listed, we had suggested you reach out to your vendor to provide them with the necessary information for the DRS upgrade or to refer them to NHRS.
Employers who currently submit monthly wage and contribution data for active employees using an XML file should start submitting a test file of this information in the new V3 file layout as soon as possible. Employers should be using the data set of March 2022 contributions due 4/15/2022 when creating test files. The instructions on how to submit a test XML file can be found at:
https://www.nhrs.org/employers/employer-resources/drs-upgrade-project/xml-test-files
Employers who submit using Web Entry should stay tuned for information regarding submissions.
Please visit the Operation Granite Wave pages on the NHRS website, where you will find all project material related to the DRS upgrade. If you have questions about this update, or anything else project-related, please reach out to NHRS at
